U3A Sunshine Coast held its 2022 Annual General Meeting last Saturday, April 30 on-campus at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Guest speaker for the event was gerentologist and Director of ‘IAgeWell’, Tanya Davies, who spoke about many of the pressing issues facing older people as the age, and how organisations such as U3A help mitigate some of the more detrimental factors in ageing.
President Glyni Cumming was pleased that one of the Bursary winners this year,Breanna Medcalfe (pictured above with President Glyni Cumming) was able to attend and address members on how much she appreciated being awarded the $2000 Bursary.
At the AGM, President Glyni Cumming presented her Annual Report that encapsulated the elements of a successful year for Sunshine Coast during a challenging year, with COVID always a threat.
Two new committee members were appointed: Karen Martin (Treasurer) and Mike Loftus (Committee Member) and members farewelled our outgoing Treasurer Evonne Walker who has performed admirably as the finances manager for more than six years as Treasurer.
The new Strategic Plan 2022 -2026 was also presented to members, effectively the Management Committee’s ‘roadmap’ for development of U3A Sunshine Coast over the next five years. Members’ contribution to the Operational Plans emanating from the Strategic Plan will be sought in due course.
For those who were not able to attend the AGM, there will be a wrap-up of the proceedings published on the website soon, and other documents will be made available via eVoice later this month.
