Vacancies in Creative Writing Course

Vacancies in Creative Writing Course
April 24, 2022New Courses/ClassesNews

Vacancies have become available in the Introduction to Creative Writing course  due to commence on Wednesday 27 April at the U3A Lecture Room. Below are details about the class. You can enrol online or by contacting the U3A Office on 5430 1123.

Introduction to Creative Writing
Course Code: 22WRI102
Day: Wednesday

Interested in exploring creative writing? This course will provide you with the initial tools to begin a project of your own. Introducing the basics of story structure, writing styles, narrative viewpoint, characterisation, setting/place and dialogue the course will be highly practical with many in-class exercises and examples. Applicants will also be encouraged to either commence, or workshop an idea for a writing project of their own e.g. short story, memoir or novel for which feedback and encouragement from the tutor and the group will be available, if required.

The tutor Paul Garrety  lives on the Blackall Ranges overlooking the Sunshine Coast hinterland. He is the author of five books along with a number of prize-winning short stories. He now writes full-time under the name of Jack Garrety (www.jackgarrety.com) and in addition to a new book, due early 2022, he continues to provide editorial feedback for novels, memoir and short stories and has just commenced a Masters in Creative Writing through Macquarie University.
