On Tuesday 20 June 2017, 30 odd of us cycled from Kingaroy to Murgon on the almost completed rail trail. The group consisted mainly of members of U3A Sunshine Coast’s Cycling 1 and 2 classes. It was all excellently organised by Kevin T. We separately arrived in Kingaroy on Monday afternoon, got together at the RSL in the evening for last minute planning, and set off early on Tuesday in small groups.
The weather was excellent. Only about 3km of the trail at the Murgon end is yet to be completed. The remaining 40km is bitumen and, as it follows the route of what used to be a railway line, the gradients are gentle.
Kevin had arranged for a bus to take us back to Kingaroy from Murgon. We picked up our bikes from where we had left them at the Murgon PCYC on Wednesday and headed home.
The trail near Kingaroy. Coffee stop.
Lunch in Murgon. Waiting for the bus.
