Ten of U3A Sunshine Coast’s longest serving members were acknowledged at this year’s Tutors and Volunteers luncheon held on Saturday, 10 November at Kawana Surf Club, with each one receiving a framed certificate, congratulating them for their 25 years plus of service. Another 12 will have their certificates posted to them.
President Colin Maddocks welcomed the 81 guests and thanked them for their contribution, whether as tutors, lecturers or volunteers who run the office or assist at special occasions.
Guests enjoyed the pleasant gathering, the opportunity to meet up with, and make new friends, the tasty meals, the entertainment courtesy of Bev Gourlay and Aart Schouten, the thank you cards at every table setting – and a couple of lucky door prizes.
Apart from the short ceremony for the recognition certificates, members were also invited to choose badges, according to their roles within the organisation.
The certificates and the badges form part of the new policy affirming the valuable contribution of members’ time and expertise to the running of the organisation.
If you’d like add a name to the list for next year’s 20+ years celebration, please advise the U3A office.
Vice-President U3A S.C.
